| More info: | Recorded on 14 July 1995 at the Fireside Bowl in Chicago. The
sleeve is at pains to point out that this is NOT a bootleg: "[We]
preserve samples of some of the great live shows that are consistently
taking place in the independent music scene... when we record, our
aim is to capture the energy in the room... microphones are placed
in the midst of the crowd... we feel a live recording should make
you feel you were there." Admirable aims, maybe, but you've
all heard better bootlegs, and from well before the digital era
too. The sound quality is awful. Never mind indie purism, why not
take a decent-quality tape off the mixing desk instead? Only November
is really listenable but it's not as good as the live version
              on the No-One Has A Future 7". Don't bother
unless you're a completist. Many of the 7"s in the V.M. Live series were later compiled
on full-length CDs and this one is no
exception. It doesn't sound any better in that format though. |
